Early Life[edit]

Amjad (born on 20th July 1985) and Nadeem (born on 20th October 1986) are sons of Music Director Nazakat Ali Khan. Born and brought up in Mumbai, their interest in music developed while they were still in school. They participated in various singing competitions in college. Coming from a family of reknowned composers and cousins to the famous composer duo Sajid-Wajid, Amjad’s inclination was towards composing, while for Nadeem it was singing. They performed live percussions at various college events and youth festivals. This inspired them to explore their musical potential together and thus began their journey as a music composer duo.

Amjad is trained in Indian Classical Music from Kirana Gharana under his Grandfather Ustad Abdul Latif Khan, a well-known Tabla player. He also learnt Indian & Western Percussions from Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, father Nazakat Ali Khan and Nitin Shankar. Additionally, he pursued Sound Engineering, Sound Programming from a sound studio in Mumbai. He also assisted Sajid-Wajid for 5 years.

On the other hand, Nadeem underwent vocal training by Ustad Jaffer Parvez Khan, a known Sarangi player & vocalist, Ustad Sarfaraz Ahmed khan, Ustad liyaqat Khan & Hyder ali (Anokhe Khan).

While their journey as music directors began with the Hindi film Do Knot Disturb (2009), they began as lyricists with Jazbaa (2015) while being composers for the same.
