Amplifest is an international music festival held in Porto, Portugal since 2011 by music promoter Amplificasom. It focuses on experimental music linked to multiple subgenres, such as post-rock, sludge metal, electronic music, neoclassical music, and hip-hop. Some notable acts that have played in previous editions include Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Cult of Luna, Amenra, Deafheaven, Converge, Chelsea Wolfe, Neurosis, Ben Frost, William Basinski, Anna von Hausswolff, Lingua Ignota, and Dälek.
The 2022 edition featured more than 50 bands over two weekends and was awarded the national Best Small Festival prize at the Iberian Festival Awards.[1]
2011[edit]
The 2011 edition was the first to be held, taking place entirely at Hard Club, Porto. Soldier of the Road and Blood, Sweat & Vinyl were the documentaries exhibited during the event.

2012[edit]
In 2012, Amplifest took place once again at Hard Club, but featured events at three other venues: a warm-up show at Passos Manuel, a listening party at O Meu Mercedes, and a concert at Sé do Porto. Jem Cohen's Instrument and William Farley's In Between the Notes were exhibited on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

2019 & 202 cancellations[edit]
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of Amplifest was cancelled. A 2021 edition was announced, planned for October, but was postponed as well.
2022[edit]
The eight edition took place in 2022, across two weekends. As such, it was Amplifest's largest edition, featuring more than 50 bands, as well as talks, documentaries, DJ sets, a craft beer bar, and a photography exhibition.
