Amy Wiles
Amy Wiles
Amy Wiles (born 18 November 1993) is a London based DJ and producer originally from a small town in Essex, England.
She started her DJ career at the age of 16 and was taken under the wing of flagship Trance & Progressive record label Anjunabeats (Above & Beyond) as a resident DJ in 2018. Since then she has supported Above & Beyond, ilan Bluestone, Seven Lions, Mat Zo, Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate plus more at festivals such as Tomorrowland, Creamfields, The Warehouse Project and Electric Brixton to name a few. She is best known for her tracks ‘Biding Time’ and ‘Remind Me Why’, the latter being a collaboration with Matt Fax and Mirror Machines. Her music is a combination of trance, progressive house, melodic, techno and breaks with an old skool sounding edge taken from her inspirations when she was a child.
Early Life
Wiles spent her early years in Essex, England where she learned a love and passion for music from her mother. From an early age she was introduced to classic trance and electronic music. In her own words, “my mum was an old skool raver, she had me listening to Trance since I was a baby. I was dancing to Greece 2000, Underworld and Cafe Del Mar in the car from the age of three. My favourite song when I was that age from Underworld ‘Born Slippy.’” In her younger years she played many musical instruments including the Clarinet, Guitar and Piano. She also played in a band / orchestra from the age of 13 for a few years. Moving on from the slightly more classical side of things, Wiles decided that she wanted to take up DJ lessons when she was 16 and went to DJ school in London.
Career
Wiles started her career as a DJ in 2009 at the age of 16. She progressed through playing more gigs and growing her knowledge in the industry until she was discovered by Above & Beyond in 2018 and brought on to be a resident DJ at their London-based trance and progressive record label, Anjunabeats. Her first original release on the label then came in 2021 with her track ‘Biding Time’. The song was released on 1 June 2021 as part of the Anjunabeats Rising Volume 6, a compilation EP series showcasing new talented artists on the label. ‘Biding Time’ was included on Spotify’s Trance Mission playlist where it still remains and where Amy was cover star of the playlist for a month, as well as landing in the Top 50 of Beatport’s Top 100 Trance chart.
Her next release with Anjunabeats came in March 2022 with her track ‘Remind Me Why’. Good friends with Matt Fax, the two artists collaborated on the project together and later brought in the GRAMMY nominated duo of Chad Petree and Jeremy Dawson (from Shiny Toy Guns fame and now known for their new stage name, Mirror Machines) to write the vocal topline for the song. ‘Remind Me Why’ also saw support from Spotify landing in their editorial Trance Mission playlist just as her first release did. Following the release Wiles was interviewed by EDM Identity, a popular online music blog, where she talked about her career, inspirations, and making the song with Matt Fax and Mirror Machines. Later on in late 2022, Wiles was highlighted by the music blog Dancing Astronaut in their feature release The Radar for episode 148[1], she was also selected as Ben Malone’s ‘One To Watch’ and 'Future Five'[2][3] on popular commercial radio station KISS FM in the U.K.
As her releases have continued to find traction in the dance music community, Amy Wiles has also seen further success with her live shows as she quickly is becoming a familiar face at festivals around the world. Appearing at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy (ABGT) 450 milestone event in 2021, Wiles dazzled fans as an up and coming artist still new to many. In addition to a full schedule tour of club gigs around Europe, 2022 sees Wiles playing sets at Tomorrowland, Creamfields North and South, and the Group Therapy Weekender in London[4], all in addition to making her debut in the United States at The Gorge Amphitheater for the Group Therapy Weekender[5]. She will also be embarking on an India tour in September for the first time with 3 club dates in 3 cities.
As her career blossoms, so too has her reputation in dance music. Wiles’ music has seen consistent support from many other artists, including Sarah Story (BBC R1[6]), Jaguar (BBC R1), Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Fatum ,Tritonal, Cosmic Gate, Matt Fax, Pretty Pink and many more.
