Amy Renee Winebarger is an American astrophysicist specializing in heliophysics, specifically in observing and modeling the solar corona.

Education and career[edit]

Winebarger is a graduate of King University of Bristol, Tennessee. She went to the University of Alabama in Huntsville for her master's and doctorate in physics in 2000. She was an astrophysicist at the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. From 2001 to 2005, she was a research scientist at the United States Naval Research Laboratory. From 2006 to 2010, Winebarger was an assistant professor at Alabama A&M University. She joined the Marshall Space Flight Center at NASA in 2010.[1]

Research[edit]

Amy Winebarger is most notable for her work as the Principal Investigator of the High Resolution Coronal Imager (Hi-C).[citation needed]

Her publications have been cited 3838 times, and she has an h-index of 35 as of June 21, 2022.[2]

Honors and awards[edit]

In 2016 Winebarger received the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal.[3]
