Damarious Phontae Williams (born January 2, 1998), known professionally as Amyr[1] (pronounced "Amir"), is an American hip hop artist and singer. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he recently moved to Oakland, CA where he signed to west coast label BlackJack Ent[2]. In 2022, he released the hit single "Seeing Stars"[3] featuring OMB Peezy.
Biography[edit]
Damarious Phontae Williams was born on January 2, 1998[4], in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At 12 years old, he started admiring music after learning how to play the flute as a child. Once he entered high school, he became serious about about making music when during his sophomore year he enrolled in a music class that had a studio when a gym class was not offered.
By the time he was 17, he realized that he had a talent and passion for making music and quickly pursued a career in the industry. Williams put out several independent singles in his hometown before he moved to Oakland, CA. After being contacted by the owner of BlackJack Ent, he relocated to the Bay Area to pursue his music passion as a full time artist. He signed a management deal with BlackJack Ent soon after[5]. Amyr is influenced by music artist such as, A Boogie, Lil Wayne, Gucci Man, and Fetty Wap.
Career[edit]
In 2019, Amyr released his first independent studio album entitled, "Louder Than Words." He followed that up with, "Proud Of Me" three years later. In 2022, Williams signed a management deal with BlackJack Ent and released the single "Seeing Stars"[6] with OMB Peezy. The success of his new single has garnered radio play nation wide, as well as being featured in several music publications, such as Hip Hop Weekly[1], The Hype Magazine[2], and Bong Mines Entertainment[6] and interviews by radio stations across the U.S.[5]
