An Event Apart, abbreviated AEA, is the annual conference created from A List Apart's community. It is an annual conferences in multiple cities across the U.S. for web designers and front end developers. Since it's first conference in the winter of 2005, the organizers have added mid-year summits[1], in addition to their multi-city annual conference tour.

History[edit]

The inaugural event on December 5, 2005 in Philadelphia, PA at The Franklin Institute[2] saw 150 attendees from all over the globe, with conference-goers traveling from as far as Tokyo and London. There were some technical difficulties, including wi-fi bandwidth problems, and inconsistent seating. The event was sponsored by AIGA, Pixelworthy, Media Temple, and New Rider.[3][4]
