Ana Eulate (born August 17, 1962) is an Spanish writer of children's picture books. She is best known for her picture book book El cielo de Afghanistan (The Sky of Afghanistan) (2012, illustrated by Sonja Wimmer), a story about girls in Afghanistan's longing for peace. In 2010 she founded the publisher Cuento de Luz where she is active as CEO.

Life and career

Eulate was born in Badajoz, Extremadura Spain. After earning her university degree, Ana collaborated with an art magazine, worked at the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Madrid, was appointed Commercial Attaché to the Spanish Embassy in Rio de Janeiro, and also worked at the General Directorate for External Relations of the European Commission in Brussels. In 2010 she started the publishing company Cuento de Luz where she is still active as CEO and Managing Editor. Eulate has been the driving force behind Cuento de Luz environmental and social commitment for which Eulate and Cuento de Luz has received many awards and recognitions.

Eulate writes and lives in Madrid, Spain. She is married with one child and is dedicated to running Cuento de Luz on a full time basis.

Awards and honors

  • The Sky of Afghanistan was awarded Gold Medal in the category Moonbeam Spirit Award - Peacemaking in 2012 by the Moonbeam Children's Picture Book Awards.[1]
  • Real Leaders magazine recognized Eulate as one of 100 Women Impact Leaders 2021.[2]
  • Mujeres & Cia recognized Eulate as one of 100 Top Women Leaders in Spain in 2013, 2014 and 2015.[3]
