Anaheim Hills is a planned community encompassing the eastern portions of the city of Anaheim, in Orange County, California.[2]
History[edit]
Prior to development, a few scattered low-density neighborhoods existed in the area. The remaining portions of Anaheim Hills were primarily developed in the 1970s after rancher and landowner Louis Nohl sold his land. Texaco Industries took over in 1970 to develop an upscale master-planned community. Due to topography and geology, the initial plan proved unsustainable.[3] Construction began in 1971, branded as a rural enclave with large lots and low densities. By 1974, the Orange Unified School District had constructed a high school to serve the growing community.[4]
Geography[edit]
Anaheim Hills is located south of Yorba Linda, California, opposite the 91 freeway at Imperial Highway. The western border is the 55 freeway. The northeast side extends past Gypsum Canyon, bordered by unincorporated areas of Orange County and Cleveland National Forest (east). The south is the Santa Ana foothills. The entirety of Anaheim Hills is within the city limits of Anaheim, California.
