Anastasios Moussas was born in Montreal, Canada on June 21, 1974 to parents Theodore Moussas and Georgia Mitsa. He completed his secondary studies in Montreal and was later accepted at the University of Ottawa for studies in the French Language in 1992 on scholarship (Department of the Secretary of State of Canada). He completed the program successfully within the same year.

Early life and education

Moussas enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces at the Royal Montreal Regiment in 1992 and upon his honorable release he was awarded a Certificate of Service. In 1994, Moussas returned to his studies and enrolled at Dawson College in Montreal where he received a diploma of Collegial Studies in Social Sciences with emphasis in Psychology. Moussas continued his studies at Concordia University in Montreal in 1998 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with specialization in international politics and in the Policy Making Process in conjunction with the School of Community and Public Affairs. In 2003 he pursued an MSc degree in Public Policy and Management from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London in England. In 2012 Moussas received his Master’s in Public Policy, Administration and Law (MPPAL) at York University in Toronto.[1] He received his Diploma in Immigration Consulting with honors from Herzing College in Toronto in 2013.

Career

Professionally, Moussas has been employed by various government agencies, corporations and NGO’s. From 1992 to 1993 Moussas was employed by the Government of Canada at the Ministry of Defense, 1997–2001 by the Hellenic Republic at the Consulate General of Greece in Montreal, and 2001–2007[2] by the Consulate General of Greece in Montreal. Moussas was employed as the Executive Director of the SAE Canada Regional Office from 2007 to 2011 by the World Council for Hellenes Abroad (SAE)[2] an organization which is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece.

Moussas is a member of Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO),[3] the Ordre des Traducteurs, Terminologues et Interprètes Agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ),[4] and the Association of American Translators (ATA).[5] He is also a member of the Alumni Associations of York University,[6] Herzing College, University of London and Concordia University. He has provided consulting services to many companies and government agencies over the years including: Government of Canada, Hellenic Republic, City of Toronto: City Clerk’s Office, Monster, Air Transat, Communications Syllabus, Ontario Government: Ministry of Transportation, Olympic Airways, Mr. Pistachio (Mexico), BFG Northland and Group Inc., City of Toronto: Public Housing Services, Seafarers’ International Union of Canada, Quebec Government: Ministry of Industry and Science, Noshield Financial Group, PAD System Inc., Linguistic Consultants of Canada, Parking Metropolitan Inc., Association of Legal Court Interpreters and Translators, SNC – Lavalin Inc., and Groupe Coscient Inc.

In 2007, Moussas incorporated Integrated Consulting Services, a division of BM GROUP CORP.[7] Integrated Consulting Services (ICS) is a privately owned Consulting Firm that specializes in business and legal consulting in Greece and Greek Language Consulting Services including translation document production and writing, interpretation, facilitating real estate transactions and property management in Greece.

Moussas is a very active member and leader in the Hellenic Community. He founded and served on the Executive Council of the Greek Student Association at Dawson College from 1993 to 1994. Moussas served as President of the Greek Student Association of Concordia University (1995–1996). He was a member of the Executive Board of the Hellenic Congress of Quebec as well as the Hellenic Canadian Congress.

Moussas joined the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) in 2013. In 2017 Moussas was elected President of the Lord Byron CJ1 Chapter in Toronto[8] and in May 2019 he was elected District Governor of Beaver District #23 (Eastern Canada).[2] He is also a member of the AHEPA Family Charitable Foundation of Canada. Other charities and foundations that he is a member of include but are not limited to The Hellenic Heritage Foundation[9] (HHF), a member of the Wildlife Preservation Society and the Reaching for the Stars Children’s Foundation[10].

Moussas serves as a North American Ambassador of the SOS Children’s Villages Greece, and as Secretary of the Reaching for the Stars Children’s Foundation[11] and co-chair of the Annual Reaching for the Stars Children’s Foundation Charity Gala[12] which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of SOS Children’s Villages Greece.
