Anatoly Aleksandrovich Tokov (Russian: Анатолий Александрович Токов; born 17th February 1990)[1] is a Russian[2] mixed martial artist[3] currently fighting in the middleweight division of Bellator MMA[4]. Tokov has previously fought in promotions such as: M-1 Global, Fight Nights Global, Rizin FF and Absolute Championship Berkut where Tokov became the one-time Middleweight champion[5].
Background[edit]
Tokov decided to pursue a career in Mixed Martial Arts following the birth of his first daughter at the age of 18; Tokov initially wanted to train and pursue a career in boxing; although in his city of Tobolsk, only hand-to-hand combat was available. Tokov also would have pursued a career in Judo, although this dream was short lived for it was too difficult to commit with because of the distance required to travel to train[6].
Tokov, along with Sidelnikov, the Nemkov brothers and Moldavsky were all invited to become a part of Fedor Emelianenko’s fight team to help as preparation for Emelianenko’s comeback into professional MMA[6].
Bellator MMA[edit]
Tokov signed a multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA and made his debut at Bellator 179 in San Jose, California vs Francisco France[7]. He won the fight in the second round via a ground and pound TKO stoppage.
In Tokov's second Bellator fight, he fought at the big event Bellator 200, in London, England vs former opponent, Vladimir Filipovic[8]; which he won in under a minute after Filipovic shot in for a poor takedown attempt and ultimately gave up his neck, thus Tokov winning and securing the win by guillotine choke.[9]
