Development[edit]

On May 21, 2020, it was announced that Netflix had given the production a six episode series order, each episode being an hour long[3], with the idea it would become an anthology where future seasons would focus on a different scandal.[4] The series was created by David E. Kelley and Melissa James Gibson, who will also executive produce alongside Bruna Papandrea, Liza Chasin, Allie Goss, and Steve Hutensky. Production companies involved with the series are Papandrea's Made Up Stories and Chasin's 3dot productions. S.J. Clarkson will direct the entirety of the first season as well as executive produce. The novel's author Sarah Vaughan and Margaret Chernin are also co-executive producers.[5]

Casting[edit]

The casting of Sienna Miller, Michelle Dockery, and Rupert Friend were announced on September 23, 2020.[6] Naomi Scott was announced on December 15, 2020[7] and Ben Radcliffe was announced on January 5, 2021[8].

Filming[edit]

Principal photography was to be filmed in the U.K. in 2020 but there were questions as to whether COVID-19 would impact production. It was later confirmed that filming had begun in London the last week of October 2020.[9]
