Anderson Moore (1835–1901) was a former slave born 1835 in Mississippi. After the emancipation of the slaves in 1865, Moore moved from Fincastle, Texas and founded Moore Station, Texas with his wife Lucinda Adams. He purchased 160 acres of land and donated a plot of land for a Methodist Church and school in 1867. Over 100 years later, his descendants continue to reside in the town he founded.
