Andisheh Avini
Andisheh Avini (b. 1974) is an Iranian-American artist currently based in Brooklyn, NY. He is represented by Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York City, where he has had multiple solo shows as well as group exhibitions. He uses various media in his artistic practice, such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. He additionally uses traditional marquetry techniques. Avini received his BFA from Hunter College in New York. [1]
Avini's art examines his dual identity as an Iranian-American, featuring a combination of classical Iranian forms and styles—such as Persian calligraphy, ornate peacock patterns, and representations of government officials—with Western abstract and minimalist approaches. [2]
