Andisheh Avini

Andisheh Avini (b. 1974) is an Iranian-American artist who is currently based in Brooklyn, NY. He is represented by Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York City, where he has had multiple solo shows as well as group exhibitions. He uses various media in his artistic practice, such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. He additionally uses traditional techniques of marquetry. Avini received his BFA from Hunter College in New York.[1]

Avini's art examine's his dual identity as an Iranian-American, featuring a combination of classical Iranian forms and styles—such as Persian calligraphy, ornate peacock patterns, and government officials—with Western abstract and minimalist approaches. [2]
