Andoni Island
Andoni Island is regarded as the most endemic island in Nigeria. Located at eastern fringe of the oil - rich Niger Delta in Rivers State, it is a barrier island that geographical shaped by nature in the likeness of a shark. The Island measuring about 124Km2 is known for housing the endangered African forest elephants (Loxodonta African cyclotis), pygmy hippopotamus and many other mammals. The Island is also a nesting ground for different species of sea turtles.
