Club Activities[edit]
The club each year has an Annual Prize Giving Evening in November, where awards are given to members in recognition of their achievements during the year and contribution to the club. The awards ceremony also includes a speech by a guest speaker from the world of British cycling.
The club also has a group on Facebook[3] and Twitter.[4]
Club Logo[edit]
The club’s logo depicts a lion standing under an oak tree and is based on the design used for the town’s coat of arms.[5]
Club Kit[edit]
The club kit[6] a mixture of black and red with yellow and green. As well as the club name in various places, it includes on the front, the club’s logo.
Club Events[edit]
During the summer season the club organises a number of midweek club time trial events[7] as well as Open time trial events and in the winter, the club organises a number of ‘chain gang’ style rides. The Open events attract not just local riders but riders from further afield[8] [9] [10] .[11]
In 2009 the club won the South district team BAR (Best All Rounder) competition,[12] having been the only club in the district to have fielded three qualifying cyclists; the minimum number needed for the competition.
Weyhill Weekend[edit]
The most well known and popular Open time trial Event organised by the club is the Weyhill Weekend in September, consisting of a 10 mile time trial on a Saturday and a 25 mile time trial on the adjacent Sunday. Both races are held on the A303 road near Andover. Unfortunately in 2010, the 10 mile race was cancelled on safety grounds due to ongoing road works at the Hundred Acre Roundabout on the A303 slip road,[13] west of Andover.
