Andre Alexander D'Rozario (born 1996) is a Portuguese-Eurasian community linguist and Core Team member of the Kodrah Kristang revitalization initiative for the endangered Kristang language in Singapore.

Biography[edit]

D'Rozario is of Portuguese-Eurasian descent and is an alumnus of Saint Patrick's School and LASALLE College of the Arts.[1]

Kristang and language revitalisation[edit]

D'Rozario is one of two Portuguese-Eurasians in the five-member Kodrah Kristang Core Team, the other being Kevin Martens Wong; both D'Rozario and Wong claim Kristang as their heritage language.[1][2] D'Rozario has described his motivation for preserving Kristang as wanting "the future generation to be able to have their roots in Singapore. It’s really hard when you feel like you are not a part of your country".[1][2]

D'Rozario was the art director for the Kodrah Kristang board game Ila-Ila di Sul (The Southern Islands) developed for the 1st Kristang Language Festival in May 2017, and is the project lead for the forthcoming Kristang graphic novel Boka di Stori.[3][4] He currently teaches Kristang as a People's Association Trainer at Cairnhill Community Club.[3]
