Andre Lichtenberg
André Lichtenberg (born. 1964) is a Brazilian/German photographic artist based in Brighton UK. He is best known for his large scale constructed studies of major cities photographed from elevated view points and night seascapes created under the moonlight. His images have been exhibited widely, selected for several major awards including Aesthetica Arts Prize 2017 & 2014 and Renaissance Photography Prize 2011. His artworks are present in numerous private and corporate art collections including the prestigious Joseph Cohen Family Collection in New York.
Early Life and Education:
Andre Lichtenberg was born and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from a family of European descendants. Between 1984-86 he studied Civil Engineering at the ‘Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul’. In (1986) Lichtenberg relocated to London UK and from 1991 studied BSC Photographic & Electronic Imaging Science at the Polytechnic of Central London (later renamed University of Westminster) receiving his first class BA in 1994. He gained an MA in photographic studies in 1997, from the University of Westminster.
