Andrea Stazi

Andrea Stazi is an Associate Professor of Comparative Law and Director of the InnoLawLab – Laboratory of Innovation Law at the European University of Rome.[1] He is also Coordinator of the Master of Laws in Artificial Intelligence: Law & Ethics of Emerging Technologies, and the Co-Director of the Research Center of Excellence for Copyright.

Prof. Stazi is also a Visiting Professor in Biotechnology Law - Academic Fellow at National University of Singapore,[2] and in Comparative Law & New Technologies at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria of Madrid.

He holds the Italian National Habilitation as a Full Professor in Comparative Law.

Stazi is an expert in comparative law, law and technology, privacy, regulation, competition, and intellectual property. He has published extensively on these topics in leading academic journals and has been invited to speak at conferences around the world.

Prof. Stazi is a member of the Aspen Institute, World Metaverse Council, Global Blockchain Association, IP & Innovation Researchers of Asia Network, Digital Policy Council - Task Force Italia, AssoFintech, and editorial boards of several academic journals, including Diritto Mercato Tecnologia and Comparazione e diritto civile.

Stazi held visiting professorships or research fellowships at the Max-Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law of Munich, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Amsterdam - IVIR, FLACSO University of Buenos Aires, Beijing Normal University, Singapore Management University and National University of Singapore. He received his PhD in Competition Law from the University of Perugia in 2008.

Prof. Stazi is a passionate advocate for the use of law to promote innovation and economic growth. He believes that law can help to create a level playing field for businesses and to protect consumers from harm. He is also committed to using law to address the challenges posed by new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data.

Stazi is a highly respected scholar and thought leader in the field of law and technology. His work has made a significant contribution to the understanding of the legal challenges posed by new technologies and to the development of new legal frameworks to address these challenges.

Prof. Stazi published 10 books, among which “Smart Contracts and Comparative Law”, Springer,[3] and “Biotechnological Inventions and Patentability of Life”, Edward Elgar,[4] and more than 70 articles in academic journals, among which lastly "Smart Contracts, NFT Trading and Weaker Party Protection".[5]
