Andreas Renner (born 7 Mai 1973)[1] is a German police officer. He was inspector of the Baden-Württemberg State Police and thus the highest official of this State Police Organisation.

Life

Andreas Renner joined Baden-Württemberg Police in 1994. In 2006 he became a senior officer in the ministry of interior Baden-Württemberg. In 2010 he became head of Rottweil Police Department and one year later he became head of department in Göppingen. Since 2012 he worked again in the ministry of interior Baden Württemberg. He became a senior officer of the department for Crime control, prevention and criminology. From 2016, Renner was in a leading position for the Reform of Baden-Württemberg Police and in 2019 he became vice-president of LKA.[1] In October 2020, Andreas Renner became inspector of the Baden-Württemberg Police. When he was inaugurated, Renner was the youngest inspector the state police had ever had at the age of 47.[2]

At the end of November 2021, Renner celebrated with colleagues in a Stuttgart pub. While other colleagues had gone home, Renner visited another pub with a female colleague. According to the female officer, her supervisor Renner later contacted her via Skype and tried to persuade her to have sex in the future. Renner pointed out that he decides on her promotion. The female officer recorded the Skype conversation.[2][3]

Renner was suspended from his post and the public prosecutor's office in Stuttgart began investigations. To date, however, no charges have been brought against him.[4]

The state police headquarters (Landespolizei Präsidium, LPP) was accused by the media of only hesitantly processing the process and of having left the victim alone. The LPP issued a handbook of 25 phrases for police leaders to use to explain the sexual harassment affair to the public.[5]
