Andre Arzoomanian (Persian: آندره آرزومانیان, Armenian: Անդրե Արզումանյան; 6 November 1954 – 1 June 2010) was an Armenian-Iranian composer and pianist.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
Biography[edit]
Andreh Arzoomanian was born on November 6, 1954 in Tehran. He started his artistic activity in 1977 by playing the piano. He has played the piano in the soundtrack of many films, including From Karkheh to Rhine (soundtrack by Majid Entezami), The Smell of Yousef's Shirt, The Glass Agency, The Last Flight, I Am 15 Years Old, Woman Today, Sam and Narges, Dirty Bands and Mercedes Was in charge. Andreh Arzoomanian's last work in this field was composing for the film Ominous Sperm in 2008.[9][10][11]
He has also played the piano in the album Golden Autumn by Fariborz Lachini, the Symphony of Sacrifice by Majid Entezami and the album Choosing Silence by Babak Bayat.[12][13][14] He was a member of the jury of the Fajr International Music Festival.[15] He was also a member of the selection committee for the best pop music album in 2000 and 2001.[16]
He was married to Sharareh Dolatabadi, a film and television actress.[17][18]
Death[edit]
Arzoomanian was hospitalized in Milad Hospita for four weeks due to bone marrow cancer, during which time he underwent three surgeries. His eyes and lungs were also damaged by the disease. He died on June 1, 2010 at the age of 56 in Tehran.[19] He was buried in front of Vahdat Hall and in the Behesht Zahra artists' section in Tehran.[20][21][22][23][24] He died while he had 2 unreleased albums.[25]
On 1 June 2011, the commemoration ceremony of the first anniversary of the death of Andre Arzoomanian was held at the Iranian Cinema House.[26]
In the third period of the Iranian Music Salnava Ceremony, commemoration of 4 deceased artists was held, including "Andreh Arzoomanian", and his family was thanked by donating a memorial statue. This ceremony was held in December 2017 in the Persian Gulf Hall of the Niavaran Artistic Creations Foundation.[27]
The music album "The Last Song of Love" with artists Andre Arzoomanian and Babak Shahraki was released at the same time as Arzumanian's fifth death.[28]
