„Andreshko“ is a story written by Elin Pelin.

Its written in 1903 and i published in the same year in the magazine "Prosveta" and in the year its added to volume I of the collection "Stories"

The story is based on real life events and its title is named after the main character.

Elin Pelin is among the biggest writters of the Bulgarian village, he is a master of stories in Bulgarian literature, creator of bright, unforgettable character, a lot of which are inspired by his fellow village dwellers in the village of Bailovo

The story of "Andreshko" is about the journey of a bailiff in the wagon of the peasant Andreshko, who is on his way to take the wheat of a poor man who goes by the name of Stanoia. The bailiff dosen't try to hide his pride and his enmity towards village folk, whom he believes to be tricksters. Unfortunately for him, the wagon's driver turns out to be just like that. In order to save the poor man, Andreshko stops the wagon and leaves the bailiff in the middle of a swamp in a cold,dark night just outside the village so he can warn Stanoia of the danger.
