Andrew Burashko
Andrew Burashko is a Canadian concert pianist and founder/artistic director of the Art of Time Ensemble, a Toronto-based collective of classical and jazz musicians.[1]
Early Life
Andrew Burashko was born in Moscow (in what was then the Soviet Union).[2] He moved to Toronto via Israel in 1973 and began studying piano with Marina Geringas two years later, in 1975.[3]
Burashko made his Toronto Symphony debut when he was 17 years old and went on to perform ten seasons with the orchestra.[4] He also studied under Lee Kum-Sing in Vancouver, Marek Jablonski and Leon Fleisher in Toronto, and Bella Davidovich in New York.[4]
Career
Burashko toured extensively throughout North America and Europe as a soloist, collaborating with conductors including Sir Andrew Davis, Marin Alsop, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, and Pinchas Zukerman.[5] As a chamber musician, he enjoyed ongoing collaborations with Steven Dann, Joel Quarrington, Amanda Forsyth, and Pinchas Zukerman, and performed at chamber festivals across North America and Europe.[6][7] Burashko is a frequent collaborator with contemporary dancer Peggy Baker, who helped open Burashko to a world of dancers and actors.[8][3]
