Andrew Finkelstein is an American attorney and managing partner known for his extensive career in law, particularly in the fields of personal injury, workers' compensation, class action and mass torts, and Social Security disability. He has played a pivotal role in expanding and leading multiple law firms in New York State and beyond.

Early Life and Education

Andrew Finkelstein was born and raised in Newburgh, New York. He attended public schools in the area and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1983, where he was the captain of both the soccer and tennis teams. Finkelstein pursued higher education at Syracuse University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing in 1987. He furthered his education at Brooklyn Law School, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1991.

Career

Upon graduating law school in 1991, Finkelstein joined his father, Howard Finkelstein, at Finkelstein, Levine, Gittelsohn & Tetenbaum in Newburgh, New York, which later became Finkelstein & Partners. He became Managing Partner in 1996, expanding the firm by opening 10 offices throughout New York State over three years. In 1999, he became Managing Partner of Jacoby & Meyers, LLP, followed by taking over as Managing Partner of Fine, Olin & Anderman, LLP in 2001, specializing in Workers' Compensation & Social Security Disability. In 2008, he founded Total Trial Solutions, LLC, and in 2009, co-founded Finkelstein, Blankenship, Frei-Pearson, and Garber, LLP. In 2020, he joined Diller Law, LLP as Managing Partner.

Professional associations and honors

Finkelstein has been an active member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association since 1991.[1], joining its Board of Directors in 1995, serving as President of the Hudson Valley Chapter, and holding statewide Secretary and Treasurer positions. He is a Trustee of LawPac and a founding member of the National Trial Lawyers Association[2], serving on its Executive Committee since 2011. He chairs the board for the non-profit Trial School[3], providing free trial training to lawyers nationwide. Additionally, he is a founding member and Chairman of the Board of Empire State Bank, in Staten Island, NY[4]
