Andrew Russo (mobster)
Andrew "Andy Mush" Russo (born 1935) is an American mobster and onetime Caporegime and street boss of the Colombo crime family.
Biography
Andrew Russo was born in New York City, New York in 1935, the cousin of Carmine Persico. [1] He soon became a Capo in the Colombo crime family. From 1973 to 1975, he served as acting underboss of the family, and he was sentenced to 14 years in prison in November 1986. [1] He was released on parole in July 1994, and he became the street boss of the family after Persico's arrest. [1] In August 1999, he was convicted of jury tampering, and he served 57 months in prison. [1] In 2010, he took over the family after his parole expired, succeeding the incarcerated street boss Ralph DeLeo. [1] In 2013, he was sentenced to 33 months in prison. [2] Michael Franzese allegedly rose to power under Russo.
