Andy Gibbins (born 9 July 1984) is a Welsh actor. He was born in Swansea, Wales but grew up a small town called Fareham in Hampshire. He is best known for portraying Smudge in Kajaki (film) [1] and the street artist Banksy in The Banksy Job. [2]
Film & Television work[edit]
Andy graduated from the Courtyard Theatre training company in 2011 and went straight in to a London tour of the horror play The Dark Tales. It wasn't until 2014 though that he landed his first major roles in the gritty awarding winning true story Kajaki where he played one of the principle roles of Dan 'Smudge' Smith. The film won multiple awards and still enjoys a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. He then landed the title role playing notorious graffiti artist Banksy in critically acclaimed art heist documentary The Banksy Job. He has since worked on a host of well known television shows such as White Gold (TV series) and long running BBC show Holby City. [3]
Personal Life[edit]
Andy attended The Henry Cort Community College but it wasn't until his time at Fareham College that he discovered his passion for acting. He studies a media studies A Level with his good friend from school, film director Ian Roderick Gray where they were regularly required to make short films and Andy would always end up in front of the camera with Ian behind it directing. The two have since collaborated on dozens of projects.
Despite growing up in Fareham, Andy is a massive Swansea City A.F.C. fan and a regular at matches. He currently resides in London.
