Andy Lawrence FRSE is a British astrophysicist and Regius Professor of Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh based at the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh.[1]
Lawrence is best known for his work on the physics of quasars, and is the author of a number of books including “Losing The Sky” about sky pollution by satellites, and two academic textbooks, “Probability in Physics”, and “Astronomical Measurement”, both with Springer. He has also published a short historical/popular booklet on the life and achievements of Charles Piazzi Smyth, the second Astronomer Royal for Scotland.
Lawrence teaches on the Massive open online course (MOOC) at Coursera on AstroTech: The Science and Technology behind Astronomical Discovery.[2]
