Anette Hallin

Anette Hallin, born 1969, is a Swedish professor of Organisation and Management, Business Studies. In her research, Hallin studies how organising takes place through constant and messy processes, particularly about how organising takes place through the interplay between technology and humans. She has published her work in journals such as Futures[1], Journal of Product Innovation Management[2], Journal of Marketing Management[3] and International Journal of Managing Projects in Business[4].

Biography

Hallin was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden where she attended Adolf Fredrik's music school and Stockholm musikklasser, Kungsholmens gymnasium. In 1994 she earned a master's degree in secondary education (Swedish, English, History) at Uppsala University and Stockholm University. She worked as a teacher until 1999, when she took up a job in sales, business intelligence and consulting.

In 2002 she was accepted as PhD-candidate at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, with Peter Dobers, Lars Strannegård, Alf Rehn and Mats Engwall as supervisors. After having completed her PhD with the thesis "Size Matters: Ostensive and Performative Dimensions of Organizational Size"[5] in 2009, she spent 8 months at the Scandinavian Consortium of Organizational Research (Scancor), Stanford University, in California, USA. In 2010 she was awarded the Wallander scholarship and spent time at Gothenburg Research Institute and at Stockholm Business School, Stockholm University. In 2013 she got a senior lectureship at Mälardalen University College, MU, where she helped build up the NMP-group, the Department of Organisation and Management. At MU, she was awarded the title of docent (associate professor) in 2015.

In 2019 Hallin became professor in Organisation and Management at the Business School of Åbo Akademi University, Finland. In 2019 she was also promoted to professor in Business Studies with a specialization in Organisation and Management at MU.

Between 2017 and 2022 she is the program manager of the research program DIGMA, where participating researchers study digitalisation, organising and management.
