It is the first startup investment platform in Hong Kong to be licensed and regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). AngelHub was founded after the success of WHub, a startup community platform co-founded by Karen Contet and Karena Belin in 2013. WHub, which now comprises over 3,000 startups, aims to unleash startups' full potential by connecting them to the resources they need. WHub also organizes events focused around tech, including Hong Kong FinTech week. The establishment of AngelHub was a natural progression for WHub's founders to provide a streamlined platform for investing in highly vetted startups.
In 2019, AngelHub and WHub raised USD $3 million in a funding round led by Kharis Capital and Hong Kong Fintech Unicorn TNG Fintech Group.

Karen Contet and Karena Belin, the co-founders of AngelHub, come from strong corporate backgrounds, with Contet having experience in finance at J.P. Morgan and Belin in finance at Procter & Gamble.
