Angel Tsvetkov was born on November 5, 1922 in the Sofia village of Aprilovo.

From 1938 he was a member of the RMS, and from 1944 also of the BKP. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for communist activity. After September 9, 1944, he became an associate of the District Committee of the BKP in Novoseltsi. After that, he was an instructor of the District Committee of the BKP in Sofia and the first secretary of the District Committee of the BKP in Elin Pelin.

He graduated from the Higher Party School at the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow, and in 1966, in absentia, the Higher Agricultural Institute "Georgi Dimitrov". In 1972, he was appointed secretary of the National Council of the OF, and from 1977.

He was the vice-chairman of the same council. From 1971 to 1981, he was a candidate member of the Central Committee of the BKP, and from 1981 to 1990.[1] [2]
