Angel Villanueva
Angel Villanueva (born 1977) is a Queer Latino visual artist, photographer, and painter. He is based in Pomona, California where he teaches art classes and paints murals. He explores and expresses the interconnections between the cognitive domain of knowledge, experience, memory, and imagination; all factors constituting self identity. He believes the nature of art is substantiated in its capability to transcend ages, artistic disciplines, and typological worldviews, finding the uniting thread across time, space, natural forces, and social constructs that make up the mortal world. He considers his art style to be Magical Realism.

Art
Villanueva focuses his pieces around history and the mysticalities of past occurrences. His paintings aim to visually explore the perils and mysticality of his paintings after being interested in psychology from a young age. His aim is to prompt the audience to connect with knowledge, memories, feelings, impulses, and desires that constitute a sense of self. His art was featured in a book series, Self Help Graphics where they promote the work of local artists in Los Angeles, use art to promote social change in the barrio, and establish cultural arts[4].
