Angela Karp 2
Angela Karp Professor Angela Karp is a British scientist and current Director and CEO at Rothamsted Research. She specialises in crop genetic improvement, including breeding of commercially released varieties of willow for the bioenergy industries. She has over 130 publications, and is co-author of the textbook The Essentials of Genetics[1]. In 2007 she received the Royal Agricultural Society of England Research Medal and, in 2008, the Alfred-Toepfer prize for research[2]. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Biology
Education
She gained a BSc in genetics from Queen Mary College, University of London, graduating with first class honours in 1978. Her PhD on the Cytogenetics of inbred Lolium perenne was awarded by the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1981.
Career
She joined Rothamsted in 1981 and was appointed Honorary Professor in 2019. She was appointed Director in 2020.
