Angelica Montini

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Angelica Montini (born 27 September 1997) is an Italian fashion designer based in Milan. She was raised in a family environment connected to industry and entrepreneurship. She is the founder and creative director of the womenswear label Angelica Montini, established in 2023.

Early life and education

Montini was born and raised in Milan, Italy. She completed her secondary education at St. Louis School in Milan and later attended The American School in Switzerland (TASIS).

She pursued higher education at Istituto Marangoni, where she obtained two degrees: the first in Art Direction and the second in Menswear Tailoring. Her academic training combined visual culture, garment construction, and tailoring techniques, forming the foundation of her design approach.

Career

After completing her studies, Montini began developing an independent design practice focused on material experimentation and garment construction. In 2023, she founded her eponymous womenswear label, Angelica Montini, initially presenting a limited series of mesh garments that explored transparency, structure, and body-focused silhouettes.

Following the early reception of these pieces, the brand expanded its scope to include leather garments and tailored items, produced in Italy through specialized workshops. In September 2024, Montini presented the label’s first full collection, marking the transition from capsule releases to a seasonal collection model.

Within its first years of activity, the brand entered selected international retailers, including Antonia Milano and The Webster in the United States. Montini’s work has been featured in fashion media and worn by public figures, contributing to the label’s visibility in both European and international markets.

In parallel with wholesale distribution, the brand has developed a direct-to-consumer presence through curated presentations, emphasizing close interaction with clients and a controlled retail environment.

Montini has presented her collections in Paris on two occasions, organizing private presentations in the 8th arrondissement. These presentations took place in a district traditionally associated with luxury fashion houses and international showrooms, contributing to the brand’s positioning within the Paris fashion context.

Design philosophy

Montini places significant emphasis on research and material development in the creation of each garment. Individual pieces often originate from extended research phases that combine historical references, material sourcing, and experimental construction techniques.

Some of the brand’s early mesh garments incorporated found objects and cultural references, including the use of vintage coins sourced from Afghanistan, which were integrated as functional and decorative elements. These pieces reflected an interest in symbolism, material history, and the relationship between adornment and clothing.

Travel plays an important role in Montini’s creative process. She has cited exposure to different cultural environments as recurring sources of inspiration. Observations drawn from architecture, everyday objects, and social environments are translated into garment structure, surface treatment, and detailing.

Rather than approaching design through seasonal trend narratives, Montini’s practice is research-driven and iterative, with garments developed through multiple sampling stages. This methodology reflects a broader interest in craftsmanship, longevity, and the conceptual dimension of clothing.

Recognition

Montini’s work has been featured in international fashion publications including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar France, 032c, Beyond The Noise and more. Her collections and design approach have been discussed in the context of contemporary fashion and Italian craftsmanship.

Her work has also been featured on fashion industry platforms focusing on emerging designers.
