Animo (song)
‘ANIMO’ is the lead single of ‘GRIT’, the second album of heavy metal rock band the Kut. The song focuses on the themes of women’s rights [1], power and confidence, saying “Not vulnerable, I'm ready to go, Unstoppable, I'm animo!”
Charting[edit]
‘ANIMO’ charted in the UK Official Charts. ‘ANIMO’ charted at No.8 Physical, No.35 Sales and No.76 in the Downloads Chart. Furthermore, the song also charted in the USA Submodern Singles Top 100 Chart at #87.[2]
Reception[edit]
‘ANIMO’ was generally received positively by critics. In music magazine ‘Get in her Ears’, Leonie Bellini writes that the song “is tight and compelling throughout, capturing a classic rock sound with a modern edge”.[3] ‘Rock Regeneration’ agreed, calling the song positive and “catchy”. [4] Animo was also a double Award Winner in the UK Songwriting Contest 2021, with the audio succeeding in winning the UKSC Rock Award. [5]
Music Video[edit]
The music video for ‘ANIMO’ seems to be set on a roof and features the Kut playing along with many other people who dance and chant in synchronisation. This video won the 2021 Music Video Award in the UK.[6]
