Anirudh Devgan
Anirudh Devgan, Ph.D (1969-present) is an Indian-born American computer scientist and business executive, currently the President of Cadence Design Systems in San Jose, California. He is an IEEE fellow and holds 27 patents[1] in topics ranging from block-based static timing to lithography aware leakage analysis and has published more than 70 research papers. He attended the India Institute of Technology, Delhi for Electrical Engineering and achieved a Masters and Doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1991.
In addition to Cadence, he has served and spoken at various technical conferences for electronic design automation (EDA) and electrical engineering around the world such as DAC, ICCAD, ASP-DAC, VLSI Design and ISQED. He was the recipient of the 1999 IBM Outstanding Research Accomplishment Award and IBM Outstanding Innovation Award, the 2000 IBM Corporate Award, the IBM Microelectronics Division's Excellence Award in 2001, EEE William J. Macalla Best Paper Award in 2003, and DAC's Best Paper Award in 2005.
Personal Life
Anirudh was born in New Delhi, India on the India Institute of Technology, Delhi campus where his father was a professor of mathematics and statistics. He attend the Delhi Public School, RK Puram where he developed a passion for all things science. He immigrated to the United States in the late 80's, first living in Pittsburgh and then Westchester County, New York before moving to Austin, Texas in 1997. In 2018, Anirudh moved to Atherton, California where he currently resides with his wife and two daughters. [2][not in citation given]
Career
IBM
Prior to his corporate experience, Anirudh was at International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) for 12 years in several management and research positions at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Westchester, New York, IBM Server Division, IBM Microelectronics Division, and IBM Austin Research Lab, where he received several awards and filed the majority of his 27 patents.
Magma Design Automation
Founded in 1997, EDA company Magma Design Automation was founded in San Jose, California competing in the software market with Cadence, Mentor Graphics and Synopsys and had many convergence device segment customers such as Qualcomm, Broadcom, and Texas Instruments. Magma completed an initial public offering on NASDAQ, stock symbol LAVA, in November of 2001. Magma was the fourth largest EDA company by revenue and its peak annual revenue was $214.4 million in the 2008 fiscal year. Forbes ranked Magma no. 2 on its list of fast growing technology companies in 2005 and was acquired by Synopsys at $523 million in February of 2012.[3]
Cadence Design Systems
Anirudh currently serves as President of Cadence, promoted in 2017 after spending time as their Senior Vice President and General Manager. Cadence celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013. Its annual revenue comes in at an approximate $1.82 billion and the S&P company hires over 7,000 people all over the world in offices across the United States, India, Brazil, Israel, China, and more.

Anirudh has spoken at numerous conferences all over the world in the past 15 year and sat on many panels at the annual Design Automation Conference[4] with other notable experts in the field.
