Anjali Appadurai is a Canadian climate activist and politician born in Tamil Nadu, India. She moved to Canada at the age of 6. She attended College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Since then, she has served as the Climate Justice Lead for the Sierra Club BC and a Sectoral Organizer and then Director of Campaigns for the Climate Emergency Unit.[1] She founded the Padma Center for Climate Justice.
At the age of 21 she attended COP17, the UN climate conference in Durban, South Africa. At that conference, she gave a speech on behalf of youth non-governmental organizations.[2]
Electoral Politics
In 2021, she was the NDP candidate for the Vancouver Granville riding during the 2021 Canadian federal election[3] [4] [5][6][7]
In August 2022, Appadurai announced that she would join the race to succeed John Horgan as the BCNDP leader and BC Premier.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] [16]
