Ankaradan Abim Geldi is a Turkish popular song.
The song[edit]
The title literally means " My elder brother has come from Ankara" Although not stated firmly, it is understood that the elder brother (Turkish: abi) is in a school in Ankara and has visited his family during the vacation. This visit caused joy in the family. The setting is in the past (acne, monochrome film etc.) and the lyric reflects his nostalgia.
Recording[edit]
The song was composed and lyricized by İlhan Şeşen of the musical group Grup Gündoğarken and arranged by Ozan Doğulu. It was released by Kervan Plakçık recording company in 1992 as an album and cassette titled Ankara'dan Abim Geldi. After its immediate success it was included in a 1993 album and CD with the same title.[1]

- The song first appeared in 1993 on an album which has the same name by the band Grup Gündoğarken. The work, published by Kervan Plakçılık under the tonmeistering of Taner Öngür and the arrangement of Ozan Doğulu, featured Erdem Sökmen and Gürol Ağırbaş on guitars, while the performance of the kemenche and lute was done by Erkan Oğur.
- On March 21, 1998, the band's greatest hits album, titled "Mest of Gündoğarken," was released. In this work, the song titled "Ankara'dan Abim Geldi" also found its place, and the artistic direction of the song was undertaken by Oğuz Büyükberber and Hasan Esen. The duo also participated in the performance of violin, kemenche, and clarinet. Can Kozlu played the drums, and Çağlayan Yıldız took on the guitar.
- In 2018, Aylin Aslım performed the song "Ankara'dan Abim Geldi" on the tribute album organized in memory of İlhan Şeşen. Musician Övünç Dan took on the arrangement and the performance of instruments such as keyboard, guitar, drum, xaphoon in the work. Criticisms of the song emphasized that the original texture of the piece was preserved, and Aslım successfully interpreted the song.
