Anmol Lama
Introduction Anmol Lama ( Gurung) was born on March 11, 1998, in the major village of 9th Mile Thurbo, Mirik, District Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. He hails from a middle-class family. He is the son of Kishor Gurung and Sunila Gurung and he has a younger brother. Both of his parents, despite being illiterate and unemployed, but they worked tirelessly to ensure their sons received an education and make them successful in life.
Early Life From an early age, Anmol displayed remarkable ambition and a strong work ethic. He was known for his calm and sharp-minded nature. He always wearing a smile on his face and offering help to those in need. Anmol had a deep love for children and enjoyed spending time with them.
Education His educational journey began at the 9th Mile Primary School in his village, followed by Thurbo Higher Secondary School for his High School education. Anmol successfully passed his Madhyamik examination (class X) from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and Higher Secondary H.S. (class XII) from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and continued his studies, eventually graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History Honours from the University of North Bengal State University of West Bengal of Darjeeling District.
Workplace & Achievements Anmol's dedication to community service led him to work as a National Youth Volunteer at Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Darjeeling, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Additionally, he served as an Assistant Scout Master at The Bharat Scouts and Guides, West Bengal, and held the prestigious role of District Headquarters Commissioner of the Darjeeling District Association in The Bharat Scouts and Guides,West Bengal.
Throughout his journey, Anmol received numerous awards and accolades from Nehru Yuva Kendra and The Bharat Scouts and Guides, including the State's Highest award Governor's award in 2018. He actively participated in various programs and camps, such as the National Integration Camps in Jorhat Assam and Majhitar Sikkim in 2017 and 2019 respectively and National Youth Parliament Festival in 2021 virtually as well as the National Youth Festivals in Puducherry and Hubbali Dharwad, Karnataka in 2022 virtually and 2023.
Anmol's commitment to physical and mental well-being was evident in his efforts to set world records. He attempted a world record in 2021 by performing 75 hours of non-stop Surya Namaskar at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling. In 2023, he took an attempt on another world record challenge for Mass Yoga at the University of Agriculture and Science in Dharwad, Karnataka where more than 1 laks youth Participat.
Beyond his community involvement, Anmol was an active member of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and attained many Programs through this organisation.
Known for his kindness and a genuinely soft-hearted nature, Anmol earned the respect and love of all those around him. He was deeply spiritual, practicing Buddhism, and possessing a profound knowledge of Buddha, Buddhist teachings and Bodhisattva.
