Early life[edit]

Forer was born on April 4, 1945, in Manhattan, New York City. Her father, Leon Forer, worked as a teacher and her mother, Marion Kessler, was a nurse. She grew up in Queens with one brother, Danny. Her parents were Communists who often discussed politics and civil rights with their childrne. Forer studied at Antioch College in Ohio for two years, before receiving a bachelor's degree from the City College of New York. She worked as a kindergarten teacher.[1]
