Anne Harcourt (Scottish: 1917 - 1985) Portrait and landscape painter.
Biography
Born in Arbroath to Scottish artist George Harcourt (painter) RA (1868-1947) and English artist Mary Lascelles Leesmith (1870-?), Anne spent most of her life in Bushey, Hertfordshire, where some of her paintings are now on show at the Bushey Museum and Art Gallery. Anne was a pupil at the London Slade School of Fine Art.
Anne and her father were commissioned in 1932[1] to paint the portrait, simultaneously, of society girl Miss Veronica Briscoe before her marriage to Viscount Selby (1933).
Anne is depicted in an artwork by her father George Harcourt RA [2] called Portrait of Miss Anne Harcourt, 1921 in which she is seen playing the violin[3]. This piece was George Harcourt's diploma submission to the Royal Academy.
Anne's father was a pupil of Hubert Von Herkomer (1889-92)[4][5]. Anne's mother's painting Portrait of George Harcourt (?1920's) is included in the Royal Academy Collection: People and Organisations.
