Annihilation Time
Annihilation Time is a band from Southern California, United States formed in 2001. They released 3 LPs and 2 EPs between 2001 and 2009 and toured the United States and Europe extensively during that time. They have reunited for several one-off gigs in the United States and Australia in the 2010s.
They were formed by Graham Clise, Chris Grande and Jamie Sanitate, members of the hardcore punk band Fields of Fire, and their roadie and It's Alive Zine founder, Fred Hammer. They sought to start a band influenced heavily by the band BL'AST! and Rollins Band. They brought in Tony Melino as a second guitarist. Shortly before recording their first self-titled record, Melino was moved to drums and Sanitate from drums to guitar. In 2002, shortly after the release of the album (featuring cover art by iconic punk artist Raymond Pettibone), the band parted ways with Hammer. He was replaced by the band’s roadie Jimmy Rose from Parma, Ohio.
This lineup recorded its first performance on air at a radio station at the University of California at Santa Barbara and recorded a 7" EP in 2003 "Bad Reputation" named after the Thin Lizzy song they covered on the record. Shortly before the tour for the release of this record, Sanitate quit the band. He was replaced subsequently by another Parmanian, Shaun Filley. This line-up would tour Europe in 2004 where they would record their second LP "II" in The Hague, NL. This was followed by the "Cosmic Unconsciousness (sic)" 7" EP in 2006 shortly before the band decided to relocate from its base in the 805 area of Southern California to Oakland, CA. Subsequently the group parted ways with Melino, who remained in Oxnard, CA and Filley who returned to Ohio.
The band regrouped with Wes Wilson on second guitar and long-time roadie, Noel Sullivan on drums. They recorded their final LP "III:Tales of the Ancient Age" in 2008. The band would do its final tour in Europe in 2009 after Rose decided to leave the group. The remaining members would regroup as Lecherous Gaze.
