Anodizing, the chemical oxidation of a metal or alloy. The process by which an oxide film is formed on aluminum products (anodes) by the action of an applied current under the appropriate electrolyte and specific process conditions for aluminum and its alloys. Anodising usually refers to sulfuric acid anodizing if not specifically indicated.
The Difference Between Anodizing and Conductive Oxidation
Anodizing is carried out under the condition of high voltage electricity, which is an electrochemical reaction process; while conductive oxidation (also called chemical oxidation) does not require electricity, just soak in the potion, it is a pure chemical reaction.
Anodizing takes a long time, often tens of minutes, while conductive oxidation takes only a few dozen seconds.
Anodizing generates a film of several microns to dozens of microns, and hard and wear-resistant; conductive oxidation generates a film of only 0.01-0.15 microns, wear resistance is not very good, but both conductive and resistant to atmospheric corrosion, which is its advantage.
Oxide film is originally non-conductive, but because the conductive oxidation generated film is very thin, so it is conductive.
