Antavius Weems is an American attorney and the managing partner of The Weems Firm, PC, based in Atlanta, Georgia. He has served in several public and professional leadership roles, including as the Solicitor for the City of East Point and as the 9th President of the Gate City Bar Association.

Early life and education

Weems was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, in the Carver Homes community. He attended Clark Atlanta University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1995 and a Master of Social Work from the Whitney M. Young School of Social Work in 1998.

He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in June 2001. During his law studies, he served as the President of the Wolverine Student Bar Association/Black Law Student Association and as Vice Chair of the Midwest Region of the National Black Law Students Association.

Legal career

In 2006, Weems founded The Weems Firm, PC, where he serves as managing partner. His practice focuses on civil litigation, real estate, entertainment and sports law, and family law.[1]

Public service and advocacy

Weems served as the first African American male Solicitor for the City of East Point, Georgia. He has also been a prominent advocate for youth in the Georgia legal system. In 2001, he began serving as a child advocate attorney in Fulton County. In 2003, he developed a program pairing graduate social work students with foster care guardians to provide employment and educational support.[2]

  • Defamation Litigation (2017): Weems represented a former NFL player in a defamation lawsuit, resulting in a $3 million judgment.
  • Sequence v. Bruno Mars: He represented the musical group Sequence in copyright-related litigation involving claims against artist Bruno Mars.
