Anthony Black (born March 20, 2004) is an American college basketball player for the Arkansas Razorbacks of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He attended Duncanville High School, located in Duncanville, TX during his senior year of high school, and was a consensus five-star recruit in the class of 2022.
High school career[edit]
For his freshman, sophomore, and junior years, Black attended Coppell High School in Coppell, TX. During his first three years of high school, Black was a dual-sport athlete, playing both basketball and football. It was not until after his junior year that he made a full-time commitment to one sport. Black faced a challenging decision as both a tall three-star WR and a skilled four-star wing, but ultimately he made the decision to focus on basketball.[1] In the fall of 2021, Black announced that he’d be attending Duncanville during his senior year, where he was initially ruled ineligible[2] for reasons that were later overturned.[3] Despite only playing in 15 games during his senior year at Duncanville, Black established himself as one of the top player in his high school class averaging 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.2 steals[4] and leading Duncanville to the UIL Texas Boys State Basketball championship.[5]
Recruiting[edit]
After winning the ‘All North Texas Most Valuable Player’ award[6], Black was listed as a five-star recruit by major recruiting services. On March 28, 2022, he committed to Arkansas, joining fellow five-star recruits Nick Smith and Jordan Walsh. Black chose the Razorbacks over Gonzaga, as well as offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, and the NBA G League; his four other finalists. [7]
