Anthony DeVito
Anthony DeVito is an American stand-up comedian, writer, and storyteller. He is known for his appearances on Comedy Central, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and This American Life.
Early life and education
DeVito grew up in an Italian American household in Bloomfield, New Jersey.[1][2] His experiences growing up with his mother and grandmother in New Jersey would later inform much of his comedic material.[3][4]
Career
In 2017, DeVito made his late-night debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.[5][6] He had his own half-hour special on Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents.[7] Alongside the special, Comedy Central Records also released DeVito's debut stand-up album, Dream Occupation.[8] DeVito is also a regular at The Comedy Cellar in New York City.[9]
DeVito wrote for the 2018 White House Correspondents' Dinner for host Michelle Wolf.[10] He was also a staff writer for Netflix's The Break with Michelle Wolf.[11] In addition, DeVito was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for his contributions to The Daily Show.[12]
DeVito was the head writer and regular panelist on Sam Morril's MSG Network series, People Talking Sports (And Other Stuff).[13] He appeared on TV Land's The Jim Gaffigan Show, HBO's Pause with Sam Jay, and Adam Devine's House Party.[14] He has also appeared on AXS TV's Live at Gotham.[15]
As a storyteller, DeVito has been featured on This American Life, telling a comedic story about his grandmother.[16] He has a solo show, Jersey Boy, about his father in organized crime, which he has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.[17] The Guardian described DeVito's performance as "unpretentious and likable,"[18] while Vulture praised the solo show as "tender and hilarious."[19]
