Anthony Whitehead
Whitehead was the author of a book of dialect poetry, "Legends of Westmoreland", published in 1896 by R Scott of Penrith in 1896, and reprinted in 1952. The introduction by the author states that a previous edition had been printed "about forty years ago", but the British Library has no record of this. His stated aim is to preserve the local legends around his village in original dialect. He lived in the village of Reagil according to the preface of the 1896 edition of "Legends of Westmoreland".
