From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

ANTIWORLD- (1995-present) is an American punk rock band based in Portland, Oregon formed in 1995 by vocalist Grandma Fiendish[1] (Connie Wallace) and partner Forty Five Frank[2] (Frank Schaefer). Antiworld[3] is known for being for being on the cutting edge of the emerging deathrock scene and re-energizing the punk rock and horror rock scene in the Pacific Northwest. The band is known for no frills riffs and heavy punk tunes combined with vintage horror movie imagery and theatrical performance to illustrate their songs.[4] The current lineup is Granny Fiendish (Connie Wallace), Forty Five Frank (Frank Schaefer), Tombstone Tony (Tony Voss) and Dead Man Sam (Sam Salazar)[5]. Although not currently active the band has never officially broken up[6].

History[edit]

Formation[edit]

After re-locating from New Jersey to Portland, OR in 1993, partners Granny Fiendish and Forty Five Frank opened a punk rock/horror clothing and accessories boutique, Another State Of Mind, in 1994. In 1995 the duo formed the first iteration of their horror rock project, the band Antiworld. Dr. Jack Nowhere, a fellow horror enthusiast and musician from Southern California, joined as a song writer the same year. Antiworld played three live performances before adding guitarist Ravenscraft (Gary Shaw). For the first three years Antiworld played local Portland venues with trips twice a year down the West Coast to the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. In 1998 Antiworld was booked as a recurring act at Release The Bats in Long Beach, CA. Release the Bats was one of California’s most infamous death rock clubs from its inception in 1998 until it's closing in 2018.[7] Antiworld is recognized on the clubs farewell page as one of the founding members of what was referred to as "The Bat Stage" (1999-2018).[7] Drummer Dr. Jack Nowhere left the band in 2001 [8] and was replaced by Tombstone Tony (Tony Voss).

Touring[edit]

Antiworlds first overseas tour was to Germanyin 2001. Punk rock promoters Ralf and Thomas Thyssen[9]invited the band to perform at their event "Pagan Love Songs" at Zwischenfall, in Bochum, Germany. The tour also included a performance at the Herbstnachte III(Autumn Nights) Festival at Burg Rabenstein[10].

"Beyond The Veil" was called "The most groundbreaking gothic festival in the U.K." that year by the goth rock review Morbid Outlook.[12]The band was sponsored by Jägermeisterand were featured in the Yorkshire Post. In August 2003 Antiworld co-headlined the first official Deathrock festival to take place in the U.S.A.[13], the "Drop Dead Festival" in N.Y.C. at the legendary CBGB[14]nightclub. This was followed by a tour of America's East Coast with Cinema Strange.[15]

In 2004 Antiworld was signed with the German record label Dark Dimensions[16]. Their first release under the Dark Dimensions label was the double CD "Comedy of Terrors". The "Comedy of Terrors" release was followed by a European tour. The tour included the Wave Gotik Treffen Festival, as well as performances in London, Vienna, Slovakia[17]and Poland.[18]They were photographed by Angst-Im-Waldfor the book "Schwarze Szene" (Black Scene/Dark Scene) published Sep 30, 2005[19]. It features Antiworld in a live sequence as well as their songs throughout the soundtrack.
