Anton Bendarzsevszkij (Minsk, 7 January 1985 –) is a Hungarian journalist with Belarusian origins, expert in foreign affairs and security, specializing on post-soviet countries. Currently, he is serving as director of research for Danube Institute, also writing regularly for Index and Mandiner. He is a regular guest of different international conferences and forums, while also appearing in various Hungarian media outlets.

Early life[edit]

Anton was born in Minsk, Belarus, and moved to Hungary with his family in 1995, after Alexander Lukashenko Belarusian president came to power.

Professional career[edit]

Anton Bendarzsevszkij has MA degrees in History and Media and Communications from University of Pécs, Hungary, while he was also studying Political Science at the University of Leicester, UK. From 2009-2016 he was leading the post-soviet department at Kitekinto, Hungarian foreign policy news outlet. Between 2015-2019 he was the director of Pallas Athene Innovation and Geopolitical Foundation (PAIGEO), the organization founded by the Central Bank of Hungary. He was also leading the Foundation’s Research Institute, publishing articles and policy papers in the foundation’s magazines and website, supporting Hungarian geopolitical research and higher education, and organizing conferences and other academic events. In 2020 Anton was writing for one of the biggest Hungarian newspapers, Magyar Nemzet, and currently he is a regular columnist at Index and Mandiner. From November 2020 he became the leader of the geopolitical research group at Danube Institute, and from June 2021 was appointed as the director of research of the organization.
