Antonio Carraro
Antonio Carraro SpA is an Italian public company, manufacturer of compact tractors for specialized agriculture and the civil sector, founded in 1910 and headquartered in Campodarsego, in the province of Padua. Antonio Carraro produces four-wheel drive compact tractors from 20 to 100 hp intended for specialized agriculture, ground care and urban maintenance. It has filed 25 industrial patents, all currently in force, in countries belonging to the European Union and in the United States.[1].
History
In 1910, the young blacksmith Giovanni Carraro built the first multipurpose agricultural machine combining the functions of a plough, a cutter, a seeder, a harrow and a roller. His smith workshop soon became an industrial production plant which manufactured sowing machines and, afterwards, traditional tractors.[2]
In 1960 Antonio, the youngest of Giovanni’s six children, founded the company "Antonio Carraro di Giovanni"[2]: the first single-axle tractor “Scarabeo” was born.
60s - 80s
In the following years, the company focused on a market niche, producing small-sized tractors with medium power output (from 20hp to 100hp) and four-wheel-drive systems. It then became market leader and widened the range of products. At the end of the 70s the Research and Development department ("Centro Ricerca e Sviluppo") was opened.
90s - 2000s
The company extended its niches from only specialized agriculture, adding the civil sector. The range of machines dedicated to public and green areas and urban cleaning called "Groundcare" was introduced.
2000s - present
New challenges in the worldwide markets led the company to undergo an internal restructuring with the help of Porsche Consulting.
The Kaizen logic was then implemented in all activities companywide, in order to effectively pursue value for the end customer.[2]
