Antonis Karas Training Centre
The training sessions of Anorthosis Famagusta until September 1986, took place in the area where the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium is built today. From the 25th of September 1986, when the Stadium was inaugurated, the training sessions were moved to the area where the Antonis Karas Training Centre is located today, a few meters southwest of the Stadium. At that time, this particular area was called "Auxiliary". There was the training ground and nothing more. The players, before and after training, used the changing rooms and the facilities of "Antonis Papadopoulos" in general. In 1996, the decision was made to modernize the Auxiliary and to transform it into the Anorthosis Famagusta Training Centre. Gradually, the changing rooms were built, a gym and a meeting room were created. Over the years, a sauna, jacuzzi, massage room, and solar water heating system were added to the facilities and in 2011, we reached a state-of-the-art Training Centre, which meets all the needs of a modern and leading football team in Cyprus and Europe. The Training Centre has two standard-sized grass pitches, which are named "B1" and "B2". In addition, there is also a futsal pitch in the same area, which is used by the Larnaca Football School of the Club, for the needs of our Academy players. On 13 April 2011, the Anorthosis Famagusta Training Centre was renamed the Antonis Karas Training Centre, in memory of the veteran footballer and coach of the Club, one of the most important and most significant figures in the modern history of Anorthosis.[1]
