Anzac Park Public School is a public primary school in the suburb of Cammeray in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is bounded by Miller Street, Ernest Street and Anzac Avenue.
History[edit]
Anzac Park Public School was built on the site of the former North Sydney ANZAC Memorial Club.
The Club was built in 1941, using funds accumulated since 1918. [1], [2].
In 2010 Council resolved to demolish the building and make better use of the site. In 2013 a lease was signed with the Department of Education.
The school was founded in 2016, before the building was completed, and the foundation Kindergarten class commenced at a local TAFE.[3]
The sports colour houses are Hobbs (green), Larkin (blue), Pockley [4] (red) and Wark (yellow) which are named after prominent figures in World War I.
Design[edit]
Anzac Park Public School is designed for up to 1,000 students, on less than 1 hectare of land. It has an innovative multi-story design featuring open learning spaces and a rooftop garden. [5].
In 2016 the building received a Commendation from the Association for Learning Environments (Australasia). [6]
The school uses David Thornburg’s archetypal learning spaces (Campfire, Cave, Watering Hole).
Focus[edit]
Anzac Park has a focus on STEAM education.
